Supreme Chancellor Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

In a time long before the formation of the world, God set forth a plan and a purpose for the life and legacy of Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks that was to shape the very foundation of our country and indeed our global community.  Over 85 years, he showed us all the excellence and magnificence that awaits each of us if we too have the courage to walk boldly in our divine destiny.  Through his leadership, his husbandry, his parenting, his pastorship, his friendship and his service he showed us how to love in the face of hate, how to fight in the face of adversity and how to walk courageously in the face of fear.  His voice will never fade from our consciousness and his memory will never fade from our hearts.

Pythian Anniversary Thanksgiving Service

The Knights of Pythias Anniversary Thanksgiving Service was held March 27, 2011 at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, Tallahassee, Florida.  This was a publicly advertised spiritual program that focused on giving thanks to God for blessings past, present and future blessings to come. The Annual Thanksgiving Sermon was delivered by Sir Knight Elder Clinton H. Smith.

The Thanksgiving Service also included greetings from:

  • Sir Clarence Monette, Grand Chancellor
  • Sis. Emma B. Wade, Grand Worthy Inspectrix
  • Sis. Blanche Miller, Grand Empress-Princesses of Omar
  • Vot. S. T. Barnes, Dramatic Order Knights of Omar
  • Brigadier General Kenneth Brown, Uniform Rank
  • Sis. Alice Williams, Grand Youth Matron
  • Bro. Adrian Andrews, Jr., Jr. Pythian Address and the Juvenile Program by Pride of Tallahassee Youth Council.  

The Program was sponsored by the Local Lodges and Courts of Tallahassee.  The following Lodges and Courts were in attendance:

In God’s Corner: Benjamin Lawson Hooks

Sir Knight Aundra Brryant has written an interesting article titled, “In God’s Corner”.  It  is  about his own experience meeting Dr. Benjamin Lawson Hooks.  The article appeared in Program Success Magazine in May of 2010.  Sir knight Bryant serves as Grand Prelate, Knights of Pythias and is a member of Alex H.
